The UFC is rapidly growing and has developed a loyal brigade of mixed martial arts fans. With Las Vegas being the home to the UFC, we bring our guests that much closer to the action at our Station Casinos watch parties. We present to you the UFC Watch Party Breakdown where we give you the best places to watch and break down the best fights on the card. Now, let’s get to the good stuff:
UFC is going BIG in Boston. On January 20, we will find out who the baddest man on the planet is! The heavyweight clash between reigning champ Stipe Miocic and The Predator Francis Ngannou goes down as the UFC 220 main event of the evening. And there’s not one, but two titles on the line for this fight card. Light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier will face No. 1 contender Volkan Oezdemir.
Fight Card Breakdown
UFC 220 is all about the BIG boys. The main event has serious knockout potential. Francis Ngannou has climbed the rankings at a rapid pace and has shown that his fists are full of fury. The reigning champ Stipe Miocic is proof that it’s “Cleveland Against The World” as he strives to extend his title defense to four consecutive.
Fun Fact: The Predator Francis Ngannou is on a 6 fight win streak, which includes 5 knockouts and 1 submission. Needless to say, he knows how to finish, and fast. Most of Ngannou’s knockouts have come in the first round and no one has been able to leave the second. So in summary: don’t blink.
The co-main event is yet another fighter who has climbed the ranks quickly and is going against a UFC veteran. The champ DC is 19-1-0, and there is a reason for it: he knows what he’s doing. But Volkan has shaken up the light heavyweight division and had his first fight in the UFC on Feb. 4, 2017. So not even a year ago he made his debut and is already competing for the belt. Impressive, right?
Fun Fact: Volkan reached out to The Notorious Conor McGregor to train with him at his gym and the Irishman accepted. If he’s exchanging fight game philosophy and developing a game plan with the King of Ireland, then we would not sleep on this No. 1 contender come fight day.
All in all, this is going to be a fun showdown in Boston and we want you to catch all the action with us!
