What happens when you take popular songs and then morph them into a lude, crude, and rude lounge act? You get Richard Cheese and the Lounge Against the Machine in all of their awesome glory. I first discovered Richard Cheese years ago thanks to their cover of Gin and Juice with no idea what to expect.
I was hooked from this point on and searched the web for more clips, before deciding that I needed a few CDs to listen to in my car. This hybrid lounge/pop/rock/rap music makes for great sing-a-long drives. Local music stores failed me when searching for them, but I was able to order some directly from the man himself at the aptly named Lounge Mart.
Having been a fan for years I was excited moving to Vegas because I knew that if Richard Cheese toured again he would almost certainly play a show in town. A return to the stage was never a certainty because of an eye surgery that shut him down for a few years. Luckily, a new tour has been announced, with the kickoff show in Orlando already in a bag. Vegas though, is going to be getting TWO SHOWS!!! Richard Cheese is playing two shows in one night at Sunset Station’s Club Madrid on March 21st. The first show is at 8pm and a follow up will be right after it at 10:30pm. The 8pm show is almost sold out, though you can see what seating is left here. The 10:30pm show is your best bet as it was announced not long ago and there are still front row seats available.
One great side effect of listening to Richard Cheese was that I really developed a greater appreciation for Frank Sinatra and the whole Rat Pack. I always enjoyed his music, who doesn’t after all, but I have grown to appreciate the style of music to the point that I now own some of it so I don’t have to wait for it to come on the radio.
The 21st will be my first Richard Cheese show ever. I don’t know what to expect, but I have no doubt that it will be a good time for everyone in attendance to the point of everyone leaving with smiles at the end. What more can you really ask for?
